3M IJ180Cv3-10 (Controltac with Comply v3): fire rating
Every fire result 3M publishes for this film, the substrate the specimen was mounted on, and whether each rating is a test of this product. Best evidence basis across its rows: Extrapolated by 3M — the basis is per row, so read the standard beside it.
These are 3M's published results, not our testing. For a permit or a fire marshal, request the current certificate for your product and lot. Nothing here replaces the authority having jurisdiction's approval. We install film; we do not certify it.
Every rating on file
| Standard | Result | Specimen mounted on | Evidence basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASTM E84 (by extrapolation) | Expected comparable to 180C-10: Class I (A), Smoke Developed ≤ 450 | Not tested — the attached report is 180C-10 on glass-reinforced cement board | Extrapolated by 3M | 3M — Product Flammability Information, IJ180Cv3-10 (cover letter attaching the 180C-10 report) |
The single most-specified wrap film in the trade has no fire test of its own. 3M's fire document for IJ180Cv3-10 is a cover letter attaching the 180C-10 report, stating that due to similar film construction it is expected to perform comparably. If a fire marshal asks for the test on the film in your booth, this is the document that exists.
What to hand a fire marshal
- ASTM E84 (by extrapolation) (Extrapolated by 3M): hand over 3M's signed extrapolation letter together with the sibling product's report it attaches, and confirm first that the authority having jurisdiction accepts an extrapolation. No test of this product. 3M supplies a signed letter attaching a sibling product's report and stating it is expected to perform comparably — a legitimate manufacturer position, but not a test of the film you are installing.
