3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes: fire rating
Every fire result 3M publishes for this film, the substrate the specimen was mounted on, and whether each rating is a test of this product. Best evidence basis across its rows: Tested — the basis is per row, so read the standard beside it.
These are 3M's published results, not our testing. For a permit or a fire marshal, request the current certificate for your product and lot. Nothing here replaces the authority having jurisdiction's approval. We install film; we do not certify it.
Every rating on file
| Standard | Result | Specimen mounted on | Evidence basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASTM E84 via NFPA 101 (US) | The technical data sheet states that most products are Class A. No flame-spread or smoke index numbers and no test substrate are given; marine, fire-door and Canadian certifications are referred to 3M Technical Service. | Not stated | Not published | 3M DI-NOC Architectural Finishes — Technical Data Sheet, Revision S (March 2024) |
| EN 13501-1:2019-05 (EU) | Reaction to fire Class B-s1,d0, tested to EN 15102 for decorative wall coverings. Covers the AE through WG series but explicitly excludes EX-suffix and DG-suffix products. | Per EN 15102 decorative wall covering mounting | Tested | 3M — Declaration of Performance No. 3M DI-NOC-8, EU Regulation 305/2011 (5 March 2025) |
Two documents, two different classification systems, and they are not interchangeable. The EU declaration is the one with a specific class in it — and it excludes the EX- and DG-suffix products.
What to hand a fire marshal
- EN 13501-1:2019-05 (EU) (Tested): the report cited in that row tests this product to that standard — hand it over when that standard is the one the fire marshal asked for (a slip or EU test does not answer an ASTM E84 request). A named third-party report tests this exact product.
- ASTM E84 via NFPA 101 (US) (Not published): there is no published result to hand over — request the current certificate for your product and lot from 3M before the install date. The current bulletin states no fire result and refers the question to 3M or the online catalog. Absence of a number in the document is not a failing grade — it means you must request the certificate for your lot.
