3M Envision 480Cv3 (legacy): fire rating
Every fire result 3M publishes for this film, the substrate the specimen was mounted on, and whether each rating is a test of this product. Best evidence basis across its rows: Tested — the basis is per row, so read the standard beside it.
These are 3M's published results, not our testing. For a permit or a fire marshal, request the current certificate for your product and lot. Nothing here replaces the authority having jurisdiction's approval. We install film; we do not certify it.
Every rating on file
| Standard | Result | Specimen mounted on | Evidence basis | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASTM E84-13a | Flame Spread 10 · Smoke Developed 0 — Class I (A) | 5/8 in Type X gypsum board to ASTM C1396 — not cement board | Tested | 3M — Flammability Test Report 480Cv3 (Commercial Testing Company report 13-09097, 9 Sep 2013) |
The substrate exception. Every other tested film in this set sits on cement board; this one was tested on Type X gypsum. Same manufacturer, same test method, different backing — which is exactly why an E84 class quoted without its substrate is an incomplete answer.
What to hand a fire marshal
- ASTM E84-13a (Tested): the report cited in that row tests this product to that standard — hand it over when that standard is the one the fire marshal asked for (a slip or EU test does not answer an ASTM E84 request). A named third-party report tests this exact product.
